Oman FM: Nuclear talks wrap after ‘significant progress,’ technical talks set for next week

Oman’s foreign minister says that “significant progress” was made during today’s nuclear talks between the US and Iran in Geneva and that a round of technical talks will take place next week in Vienna.
“We have finished the day after significant progress in the negotiation between the United States and Iran,” Badr Albusaidi, who is mediating the talks, tweets.
“We will resume soon after consultation in the respective capitals,” he continues. “Discussions on a technical level will take place next week in Vienna.”
The apparent decision to schedule a subsequent round of negotiations would suggest that enough progress was made for the US to hold off on long-threatened military strikes against Iran.
However, in June 2025, Omani mediators had scheduled a round of nuclear talks that never ended up taking place because the US struck Iran’s nuclear facilities.
