Opposition leaders seek fresh debate on MK suspension bill

The heads of the opposition parties call on Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein to convene a fresh discussion on the so-called MK suspension bill, which would allow lawmakers to oust their colleagues for “unseemly behavior.”

The opposition claims that clauses of the bill, which allows for the suspension of an MK if approved by 90 lawmakers, were not discussed at fractious debate on the legislation earlier this week, Haaretz reports.

Monday’s debate by the Knesset’s Law and Justice Committee descended into a shouting match between MKs. The panel approved the presentation of the legislation in the Knesset, with members of the opposition on the panel boycotting the vote on the grounds that the preceding debate had been insufficient.
