Ramat Gan slams its chief rabbi for anti-LGBT comments
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleRamat Gan council condemns remarks by the city’s chief rabbi Yaakov Ariel, who told a conference last month that members of the LGBT community are “disabled people suffering from a genuine problem that must be solved with psychological and pharmacological treatment.”
In a statement, the council calls on Ariel “to retract his derogatory, exclusionary and abusive comments about thousands of citizens of Israel, and to apologize for his remarks.”
The decision to condemn Ariel’s comments was made at the behest of council member Roi Barzilai, Ynet says.
