Report: Francis returns donation with ‘666’ in figure
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GooglePope Francis has returned a donation from Argentina’s president partly because it contains the three-digit combination “666,” the Guardian says, citing an Italian publication “specializing in papal affairs.”
According to the Vatican Insider, the president made a donation of 16,666,000 pesos (approx. $1.2m) to an educational foundation backed by the pope, but Francis asked the foundation’s Argentine branch to return the money. The report says that Francis added a postcript reading: “I don’t like the 666.”
