A man who was arrested for having sex at memorial for fallen IDF soldiers told police he was not aware how sensitive the site was, telling police he was only looking for a quiet place for his amorous activities.

“I was not aware of the sensitivity of the place,” he said.

Acre Magistrate’s Court extended his arrest by three days.

The man, 60, from the village of Deir al-Assad in the north was arrested on Wednesday morning for committing a sexual act in a public place after a video emerged showing him engaging in relations at a monument to fallen Israeli soldiers in nearby Carmiel.

His partner, 29, was also arrested but then released under restrictive conditions.

The graphic video, just over two minutes long, was uploaded to the Facebook page of a popular nighttime television show on Channel 10.

Police officers in Carmiel searched for the couple overnight, after the video was made public and detained the pair.
