Actor and comedian Seth Rogen was the first in a wave of celebrities and subscribers who announced a boycott of SiriusXM radio after Steve Bannon, former chief strategist to President Donald Trump, was rehired as a host of the Breitbart News Daily show on Patriot, a conservative station.

The Jewish star known for his comedic role in films like “Superbad” and “Neighbors” took to Twitter on Friday to express his disgust.

“I was supposed to do a press tour on @SIRIUSXM on Tuesday but I’m no longer doing it because I can’t bring myself to appear on the same service that has decided to support Steve Bannon,” he tweeted.

Rogen was scheduled to do a media tour promoting his new film, “The Disaster Artist,” in which he stars alongside James Franco.

“Apologies to the shows I had to cancel. And f— Steve Bannon,” he concluded.

Bannon, known for his appeal to white supremacists and his galvanization of the “alt-right” in the 2016 election, was the editor of Breitbart News, a site often accused of anti-Semitic rhetoric, before joining the administration. He was ousted from the Trump White House in August amid ongoing controversy, and returned to Breitbart.

Sirius XM announced his appointment in a press release on December 5.

“From the moment I left the White House, getting back behind the microphone was very important to me,” said Bannon in the statement. “To get on the road outside the Beltway and to spend time with the great men and women of America is an honor.”

Celebrities and subscribers alike followed Rogen in his decision to disassociate with the subscription radio service using the hashtag #BoycottSiriusXM.

Musician Melissa Eltheridge, a regular contributor and host of her own show, “Melissa’s Basement” on the Volume music channel, announced her plan to sever ties with Sirius XM over Bannon’s installment, and actor John Leguizamo said on Twitter that he was cancelling his subscription.

Sirius XM has remained silent.
