Monkeys killed in Haifa zoo blaze

Officials to launch investigation into cause of fire that killed four to six primates

Four to six monkeys were killed in a fire at Haifa’s zoo early Thursday morning, fire officials said.

A parrot was also killed in the blaze.

The Haifa Educational Zoo keeps several primates, including baboons, green vervets, capuchins and lemurs, according to its website.

The cause of the blaze was not immediately clear. Fire officials said they would launch an investigation.
