Sirens signalling a rocket attack blared in the upper Galilee on Thursday night in an apparent false alarm.
The communities of Kfar Giladi, Beit Hillel, Metula, Manara and Kiryat Shmona were on alert after the siren was unexpectedly set off, according to news site Walla. There were no confirmed reports of rocket fire in the area and it remains unclear what set off the sirens.
The incident came after a series of rocket and mortar attacks over the past weeks from terrorists operating in both Syria and Lebanon.
Three weeks ago the region was targeted by two rockets that originated from Lebanon. The IDF responded with artillery fire. There were no reported casualties on either side.
The northern Galilee is currently out of range for terrorist groups operating in the Gaza Strip and was largely unaffected by the most recent conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The area was heavily targeted by Hezbollah in the Second Lebanon War in 2006, a conflict that killed 44 Israeli civilians and left over 1,500 injured.
