The first snow of the season began to fall on the summit of Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights Monday morning, IDF forces stationed there reported.

The Israel Meteorological Society has predicted that snow will also fall at lower altitudes later in the day on Monday or Tuesday, giving civilians a taste of the dusting as well.

While Mount Hermon will be dusted in white, the rest of Israel was expected to experience occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms throughout the day, accompanied by unseasonably chilly temperatures, which will likely continue for the rest of the week, according to the IMS.

In 2013, the first snow hit Mount Hermon on December 5, and just a week later, a massive storm blanketed parts of Israel, including Jerusalem, with record amounts of the white stuff.
