New VC course embodies Reichman University’s entrepreneurial spirit

In a move to prepare the next generation of investors and entrepreneurs, Reichman University has introduced a comprehensive Venture Capital Investments course for its students

The program, which kicked off last year, is not just another addition to the curriculum — it’s a testament to the institution’s commitment to nurturing Israel’s next generation of entrepreneurs while respecting their national service obligations.

The program is led by industry veteran Amit Pilowsky, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Key1 Capital, who previously held leadership roles at Goldman Sachs before co-founding Key1 Capital. Pilowsky sees teaching as a chance to give back.

The course has already proven to be a success in its first cohort, leaving both students and its instructor deeply impressed with the level of engagement and results. Pilowsky shared enthusiastically, “Engaging with young, bright, motivated students has been incredibly rewarding. The energy and enthusiasm in the classroom are exactly what I hoped for, and even more.”

According to Roni Roman, a Business and Entrepreneurship student going into her third year, “Taking this course was a bit of a gamble since it was the first year, and we didn’t know what to expect. However, from the very first class, it became clear that it was one of the best decisions we made during our studies. The course guided us step-by-step, from theory to practical application, covering all the processes, considerations, and metrics crucial for evaluating investments in startups. It was equally valuable for aspiring entrepreneurs and those looking to pursue careers in VC.”

The collaborative atmosphere in the classroom was a highlight for both Pilowsky and the students. “One of the things they mentioned as a positive remark was that for learning, no questions are unwelcome, and participation is encouraged,” Pilowsky shared. “It’s a discussion-based, encouraging environment.”

The open, collaborative spirit extended beyond the classroom as well. When faced with the challenge of accommodating reservists serving in the army, Pilowsky worked to find bureaucratic approvals and ensured that all sessions were recorded on Zoom, with presentations easily accessible online.

This flexibility, combined with the course’s practical approach, led to exceptional results. “The submissions were excellent,” Pilowsky noted, adding that this was true for both reservists and non-reservists.

According to Jonathan Davis, VP of Reichman University and Head of Raphael Recanati International School, “to watch Amit provide TLC and practical VC skills to his students, while doing his utmost to assist the reservists in his class, embodies the heart and soul of the Reichman spirit. It does not get better than this.”
