Several swastikas were spray-painted onto Magen David Adom ambulances early Sunday morning in Jerusalem, according to spokespeople for the emergency service.

At around 3 a.m. Sunday morning, paramedics in Jerusalem were dispatched to the ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Mea Shearim to treat a patient in his apartment.

When they went back outside, the medics saw that someone had painted swastikas over the Israeli flag logo on both of their vehicles while they were treating the patient.

An MDA spokesman said the organization filed a complaint with the police.

“The police have begun investigating the incident and are attempting to track down the person who did this,” a spokesman for Jerusalem police told The Times of Israel.

“This is a serious and shocking incident that has no place in our society,” said MDA CEO Eli Bin in a statement. “We trust that the enforcement agencies will bring those responsible for this heinous act to justice.”

Last month, Jerusalem police tore down three Palestinian flags from a building in the heart of the hardline Haredi neighborhood.

Locals in the neighborhood, which is widely seen to be predominantly anti-Zionist, hurled eggs at officers attempting to remove the flags.
