Samar Fouad Talalka, 22: Worked in Nir Am hen house
The 22-year-old, from the Bedouin town of Hura, was abducted from the kibbutz; he was shot dead in error by IDF forces in Shejaiya when trying to escape
The IDF confirmed the death of Samar Fouad Talalka, 22, who was taken hostage to Gaza and mistakenly killed by the IDF on December 15. This is the story of his capture:
Samar Fouad Talalka, 22, was taken captive on October 7, when Hamas terrorists attacked the Gaza border communities, killing some 1,200, burning homes with people inside and taking over 220 hostages.
His death was announced on December 15 by the IDF Spokesman, who said he was killed along with two other hostages in Shejaiya, northern Gaza. The three were trying to escape but were misidentified by IDF soldiers as terrorists and killed.
Samar was working on October 7 in the Kibbutz Nir Am hatchery, where he often did the weekend shifts, requiring him to be at the hen house in the early hours of the morning, said Wahid Ahoziil, a local organizer from the city of Rahat.
“They tried reaching him, but he didn’t answer,” said Ahoziil.
Samer worked with his father, while his mother is a teacher, added Ahoziil, and the family lives in the Bedouin town of Hura.
“He’s a great guy,” said Ahoziil soon after the abduction. “He wants to make an honest living.”
