Police on Thursday arrested a third suspect in a hit-and-run accident that killed three women in Netanya last week.

The man, in his 30s, was allegedly in the car with suspected driver Shushan Baraby, who was apprehended Monday in the warehouse where he had been hiding out after a country-wide manhunt.

Baraby denied driving the car that struck and killed the women while traveling at approximately 100 km (62 mi.) per hour.

The three women killed were all members of a single family: Alexandra Rubinov, 67, of Netanya, and Svetlana and Shoshana Yegudiev, 56 and 25 respectively, a mother and daughter who were residents of Dimona visiting their relative in Netanya for the weekend. All three victims were buried in their hometowns on Sunday afternoon.

Initial investigations revealed that there were two people in the car. Shortly after the accident, Yochai Glicksman, 26, an associate of Baraby’s, turned himself into the police shortly after the crash, claiming to be the driver. He later revoked his statement, saying he was sleeping at home at the time of the accident. On Sunday, the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court ordered that Glicksman remain in custody for five days for fear he would disrupt the investigation.

Channel 10 reported on Thursday that police were investigating the possibility that the suspect arrested Thursday morning was the one who convinced Glicksman to claim he was the driver in order to protect Baraby. Police will also seek to determine if the suspect was involved in hiding Baraby from police after the accident.

Four others have been arrested in connection with the incident — relatives of Baraby and the owner of the warehouse where he was discovered.
