Lana Del Rey, the American songstress whose 1950s style and seductive voice have earned her an international following, will make her Israeli concert debut on August 20, it was confirmed Tuesday.
Del Rey will perform at the Israel Trade Fair & Convention Center (Ganei Hata’arucha) in Tel Aviv in an event managed by Bookmark Entertainment and freshman producer Concerto, a new joint venture of powerhouse talent handler Udi Applebaum and nightlife icon Ronen Miley. Tickets will start at NIS 400 and peak at NIS 1,000 for choice seats.
The details were announced at a typically over-the-top press conference by PR guru Rani Rahav, who is handling the press for Del Rey’s performance. Journalists were invited to Riley’s Cat and Dog nightclub in Tel Aviv, where despite it being midday on a Tuesday, bartenders handed out shots of Arak and Jagermeister and Del Rey’s signature hits thrummed from behind a DJ table.
Del Rey, whose “Summertime Sadness” and “Born to Die” remain radio anthems, is smoky-voiced yet squeaky clean, a curvaceous, retro-styled pop-queen antidote with three hit albums and a devoted fan base. She is the latest addition to a crowded summer calendar of international music acts visiting Israel, including Justin Timberlake on May 28, the Rolling Stones on June 4, the Pixies on June 17, Neil Young on July 17 and the Backstreet Boys on July 29.
This concert marks the first acquisition for Concerto entertainment, and according to Applebaum, it is the start of bigger things to come.
“It’s a great honor having the possibility now to bring the world’s most popular concerts to the Israeli arena,” Applebaum said. “Having such a variety of international artists gives Israeli audiences the same rich cultural experiences, and fun benefits, of the world-class music events you see in any other major city around the world.”
Tickets for Lana Del Rey’s first Israeli concert go on sale at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, and can be purchased by dialing *8780.
