A 53-year-old Afula man was stabbed to death and two of his sons sustained serious stab wounds on Friday night in a brawl with local youths. Two other persons involved in the fight also suffered stab wounds.
Neighborhood youths, believed to have been under the influence of alcohol, reportedly attacked the man, a local watermelon merchant, outside his home on Ibn Gabirol Street in Afula around 7 p.m. on Friday.
Initial reports regarding the state of the victims’ injuries differed. Israel Radio reported the sons were lightly injured and the two others were seriously wounded, while Channel 10 reported the inverse.
Police arrested the man’s sons and the two others, all of whom reportedly have criminal records. Police believe the fight was the continuation of a clash between the two parties that occurred two months prior.

The victim drove himself to HaEmek Medical Center in Afula and arrived in critical condition with multiple stab wounds. Attempts to save his life were unsuccessful.
