Police raided the largest drug plant ever found in Israel Thursday morning. Marijuana plants and lab equipment were confiscated and three suspects were arrested.
A large industrial building near the city of Or Yehuda was turned into a drug lab, with rooms for planting, growing, harvesting and drying the thousands of marijuana plants.
According to the police, the place had been monitored for a month after intelligence indicated that it was connected to the drug industry. Once there was enough evidence, and police feared the drugs were ready to be sold, the place was raided.
“It operated like a scientific laboratory,” Intelligence officer Dror Asraf told Maariv, saying the workers wore lab coats, hats and goggles, and the large building was divided into smaller spaces. The rooms had air conditioning, drip irrigation and humidity control to make sure the produce was of the highest quality, he said.
