The traffic police are taking a page out of the Israel Defense Force’s elite commando playbook in order to crack down on speeders.

Traffic cops have taken to cloaking themselves with camouflage gear and ambushing speeders on two of Israel’s busiest highways, Channel 2 reported on Tuesday.

The officers conceal themselves and their motorcycles on the roadside until unsuspecting motorists whiz by, then photograph and relay the vehicle’s information to a waiting patrol car.

The report cited the death toll from road accidents for the current year as 178.
