Egypt releases Israeli suspected of drug smuggling
Border authorities found 138 bags ‘of a substance similar to heroin’ in man’s car; a lab test showed it was a legal medication
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleEgyptian authorities on Sunday released an Israeli citizen who was detained last month at the Taba border crossing on suspicion of smuggling illegal drugs into the Sinai.
Suleiman Abu Ralyum, a resident of southern Israel, was reportedly in possession of substances mistaken for illegal drugs when he tried to cross the border into Egypt with his family in mid-May. According to Ynet, Abu Ralyum was caught with 138 bags of “a substance similar to heroin.”
Egyptian media reported that a lab test found that the substance in question was legal medication.
