Former captive soldier lands job covering basketball for Yedioth Ahronoth

Former captive IDF soldier Gilad Shalit has signed a contract with Yedioth Ahronoth as the paper’s new basketball columnist, Channel 2 revealed on Wednesday. It is the former Hamas prisoner’s first civilian work since being released from captivity in the Gaza Strip in October 2011.
A long time sports enthusiast and fan of the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team, Shalit’s inaugural column is set to appear in this weekend’s Yedioth Ahronoth.
His first assignment is a trip to the US to cover the NBA finals. He will also cover Euroleague basketball and local Israeli basketball.
