Icelandic airline announces Tel Aviv-New York flights for $149
WOW Air to offer some of the most competitive flights in the industry with one-way tickets to California priced at $199
Icelandic low-cost carrier WOW Air announced it would be offering one-way flights between Tel Aviv and a number of North American cities for just $149.
In September, WOW says, it will operate four weekly flights from Tel Aviv to New York, Boston, Miami, Chicago, Toronto and Montreal via the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik.
WOW said Monday that flights from Tel Aviv to San Francisco would be available for $199, and tickets to Iceland would cost just $99.
A WOW press release on Tuesday said the quoted prices include taxes and fees.
“Visitors from all over the world continue to be attracted to the unique city of Tel Aviv and we are honored to have the opportunity to offer travel from the United States in a more efficient way with the best possible prices,” said Skúli Mogensen, founder and CEO of WOW air according to the press release.
“The Israeli government and tourism board have been great partners in getting the route approved and we are thankful for their support of WOW air,” he said.
WOW’s flights to the US are expected be among the cheapest options for passengers traveling between Israel and North America.
“We set a goal to bring new airlines to Israel, so I’m happy and congratulate WOW air, known for its long haul low-cost flights, on its entry into Israel in cooperation with the Israeli tourism ministry,” Tourism Minister Yariv Levin said.
“I’m confident the launching of this new historic route will significantly increase the number of tourists traveling to Israel from Iceland, Canada and the US, and will also contribute to the unprecedented trend of growth in the number of tourists visiting Israel over the last number of months,” he said.
The quoted prices do not include a luggage allowance, which is expected to cost an additional $40-$50 per bag. A small carry-on bag weighing up to 10 kilograms (22 pounds) can be taken on board free.
