IDF: Incoming rocket siren in Golan was false alarm

An incoming rocket alert siren heard in the Golan Heights Tuesday was a false alarm, the Israel Defense Forces said.

The siren sounded in communities throughout the southern Golan Heights, where Israeli troops clashed with Islamic State-affiliated terrorists on Sunday.

After searching for evidence of a rocket strike in the area and finding none, the army determined the siren was, in fact, a false alarm.

Tensions have been high in northern Israel, following the skirmish on the Syrian border.

In that exchange, four of the terrorists from the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army were reported killed, while no IDF soldiers were injured.

Though the army said it did not expect to see changes along the Syrian border, it was monitoring the group closely to ensure that the clash did not signal a new, aggressive policy toward the Jewish state.
