Johnny Elichaoff, 55, backup man for U2 in the ’80s, dies after falling from roof of London department store

Former rock drummer turned financial adviser Johnny Elichaoff died after falling off of the roof of a London department store Wednesday.

Elichaoff, 55, nicknamed “Johnny Toobad,” found fame as a drummer when he toured the world supporting U2 in the early 1980’s, and later when he joined Robert Fripp’s League of Gentlemen.

His music career was interrupted in 1984 when he served in the IDF for two years, but he returned to the music industry to manage the band Tears for Fears.

Elichaoff eventually left the music industry and became a successful financial advisor, and was married to British TV-style guru Trinny Woodall for 10 years before their 2009 divorce.

The former drummer was also a regular guest on Channel 4’s Four Rooms, a TV show that appraises items and properties for audience members.

Woodall was described as “grief stricken” by the news of Elichaoff’s sudden death, the Independent reported.

Police were not treating his death as suspicious, but the Westminster Coroner’s Court is expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
