US President Donald Trump threatens to “obliterate” Iran’s power plants if it doesn’t open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours.
“If Iran doesn’t FULLY OPEN, WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 HOURS from this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST!” Trump writes on Truth Social.
The US has refrained from targeting Iran energy sites to date amid fears of such a step’s impact on the global economy.
The Home Front Command has tightened its restrictions in several areas of southern Israel following the Iranian ballistic missile attacks on the cities of Dimona and Arad, which injured more than 100 people in total.
According to the new guidelines, which will be in place until Tuesday at 8 p.m., public gatherings are restricted to a maximum of 50 people, provided that a shelter is reachable in the event of an attack, and workplaces can open as long as there is access to a shelter.
Educational activities are canceled in the affected regions. Schools across the country were ordered closed on Sunday and Monday following the missile attacks.
Police Commissioner Danny Levy, speaking at the site of the Iranian missile impact in Arad, says police do not believe anyone is missing following the strike but that searches through the rubble are ongoing.
Dozens were wounded in the missile attack on the southern city, which came following an attack on the city of Dimona, also in southern Israel.
“We won’t leave here until we confirm that there is no one missing and no one we have forgotten in the rubble,” Levy says.
He says the searches are using technological means in addition to people physically searching the site of the impact.
“According to reports I received, there is no one trapped at the moment,” he says. “We are continuing to search so that we truly don’t forget anyone here.”
Some of the dozens of people, adults and children, who were wounded in the Iranian ballistic missile strike in the cities of Dimona and Arad are now being evacuated from hospitals in the south to additional hospitals in the center of the country, the Health Ministry’s Director General, Moshe Bar Siman Tov announces.
The health system is now operating in full emergency mode, preparing for increased mental health care for the population in the south of the country and assisting those who were evacuated from their homes and transferred to hotels in the Dead Sea area.
The ministry reports that eight of the wounded are in serious condition and 16 are in moderate condition.
In addition, the National Resilience Center has contacted the mayors of Dimona and Arad to assist with whatever is needed.
“This is a complex and difficult sequence of events, and the regulated evacuation between hospitals allows us to manage maintain a high level of care for each casualty, even when there are several incidents at the same time,” Siman Tov says. “I would like to pay tribute to the medical teams and rescue and recovery teams who are working with dedication and professionalism, even under fire and in complex conditions, and continue to save lives.”
The ministry reminds the public they can contact the resilience centers and the emergency and emotional support centers of the health care networks to receive psychological assistance.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir held an assessment with senior officers following the Iranian ballistic missile impacts in the southern cities of Dimona and Arad this evening, and approved upcoming strikes tonight “across all fronts.”
The assessment, according to the IDF, was attended by Operations Directorate chief Maj. Gen. Itzik Cohen, Israeli Air Force chief Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar, Intelligence Directorate chief Maj. Gen. Shlomi Binder, and Home Front Command chief Maj. Gen. Shai Klapper.
The military says Zamir instructed the officers to “continue investigating the incidents and draw lessons from them.”
All victims from the Iranian ballistic missile impact in the southern city of Arad have been taken to hospitals, Magen David Adom says.
In all, 71 people were physically injured, including 10 in serious condition, 13 in moderate condition, and 48 others lightly hurt, according to the ambulance service.
Another four were treated for acute anxiety and also taken to hospitals.
IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin stresses that the Iranian ballistic missiles that struck the southern cities of Dimona and Arad this evening are not a new threat, after air defenses failed to shoot them down.

All in-person instruction at Israeli schools will be cancelled on Sunday and Monday in the wake of Saturday’s Iranian missile strikes on the southern cities of Dimona and Arad, which left dozens injured, Education Minister Yoav Kisch announces.
“In light of the attacks in Dimona and Arad” and in consultation with the IDF Homefront Command, “I have decided that on Sunday and Monday all exceptions will be canceled and no face-to-face learning will be approved in the education system, including the cancellation of exceptions for special education,” says Kisch, signaling a return to distance learning.
Following a two week break in studies due to the war with Iran, schools in areas deemed at lower risk from missile fire began welcoming children back last week. Schools in those areas, marked “yellow” according to a government color-coding system, were allowed to open provided they have protected areas where students can shelter during missile fire.
However, several cities and towns, including Dimona, the southern coastal city of Ashkelon and the West Bank settlement of Ariel, announced they would not reopen schools despite being allowed to do so under Home Front Command guidelines. On the first day back, less than half of eligible students returned to classrooms, according to Education Ministry data released at the beginning of last week.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issues a statement on the “very difficult evening in the campaign for our future,” after an Iranian ballistic missile attack wounded dozens of people in the southern city of Arad.
Netanyahu says he spoke with the mayor of Arad after earlier talking with the mayor of Dimona, where over 30 people were injured in an Iranian missile strike, and calls on government ministries “to provide all necessary assistance.”

Yehudah Sherman, a young Israeli man, has been killed in an incident in the West Bank, after the ATV he was traveling in was hit by a Palestinian vehicle, which allegedly came from the direction of the Palestinian town Beit Imrin, the police announce.
The police and IDF say they are examining whether the incident was a terror attack.
IDF and police forces were dispatched to Beit Imrin following the incident.
Sherman, 18, who lived in the wildcast outpost of Shuva Yisrael Farms in the northern West Bank, was conducting a “land patrol” with two other Israeli men on Saturday afternoon, including his brother, Daniel, who lives in and runs the outpost, the Samaria District Council says.
According to the council’s statement, the Palestinian driver of the vehicle allegedly sped up toward the the ATV before hitting it, although neither the police or army statement included such details. Sherman was fatally wounded while Daniel was lightly injured.
According to Elisha Yered, a key activist among radical settlers, Sherman and his brother were conducting their patrol close to the Shuva Yisrael outpost.
The police state that officers from the Samaria police region, together with traffic and forensic investigators from the Judea and Samaria police district, arrived at the scene to search for evidence, while police detectives took witnesses statements from Sherman’s brother Daniel.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich describes the incident as “murder” and expresses his condolences to Sherman’s parents, who are activists in Smotrich’s Religious Zionism party.
“Condolences from the bottom of my heart for my friends and partners of many years, Yehoshua and Sima Sherman and their family, over the murder of their son, Yehuda Shmuel Sherman, who fell guarding our country while holding on to the land of Samaria,” says Smotrich.
Notices on WhatsApp channels run by settler activists state that they will stage protests at several locations around the West Bank in response to Sherman’s death, which, like Smotrich, they describe as a murder.
“A Jew has been killed, all of us are coming out of our homes,” one message says.
“There will not be security as long as the enemy is still here. We demand that the Oslo Accords be annulled and to act for the expulsion of the enemy.”

Iran’s attack this week on Qatar’s natural gas export facility threatens to disrupt not just world energy markets but also global technology supply chains because the helium it produces is crucial for a range of advanced industries.

The condition of a young boy wounded by an Iranian ballistic missile impact in the southern city of Dimona has worsened, medical officials say.
The Magen David Adom ambulance service says it treated a total of 23 people who were injured by the missile impact, including the boy and a woman in her 30s in moderate condition, along with 21 others lightly hurt.
Soroka Hospital in Beersheba says it received the 12-year-old, and his condition is serious after he was hit by shrapnel.
Several others being treated at Soroka are in good condition.
The missile, which carried a large warhead, caused damage to homes and other buildings in the area, according to rescue services.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir says that the military is about halfway through its campaign against Iran.
“We are halfway through, but the direction is clear. In about a week, on Passover, the holiday of freedom, we will continue to fight for our freedom and our future,” he says in a video statement.
Zamir says that the “extensive damage we have caused to the Iranian regime over the past three weeks is beginning to accumulate into a systemic-strategic, military, economic, and governmental achievement.”
“As a result, the regime of evil is weaker, and Iran is more exposed and without significant defense capabilities. The leaders of the regime, who developed capabilities with the goal of destroying us, are battered and confused,” he says.
Zamir also comments on Iran’s long-range ballistic missile attack on the UK-US Indian Ocean military base at Diego Garcia.
“Just yesterday, Iran launched a two-stage intercontinental ballistic missile with a range of 4,000 kilometers [2,500 miles] toward an American target on the island of Diego Garcia. These missiles were not intended to hit Israel. Their range reaches the capitals of Europe — Berlin, Paris, and Rome are all within direct threat range,” he says.
Zamir in his statement says he also approved new battle plans for the fighting against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
“Our forces will stand as a buffer between the enemy and the communities, and any target that poses a threat to them will be removed,” he adds.
The Israeli Air Force recently struck an Iranian nuclear research and development site in Tehran, the military announces.
According to the IDF, the “strategic” site at the Malek Ashtar University was used by Iran’s military industries to develop components for nuclear weapons.
Malek Ashtar University, subordinate to Iran’s defense ministry, is under Western sanctions over its activities relating to Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
Education Minister Yoav Kisch issues a statement clarifying that Passover camps at schools across Israel will only operate over the upcoming holiday at the request of local authorities and are not obligatory, only hours after a previous cancellation announcement of such informal educational programs in 18 municipalities in central Israel.
“The operation of summer camps and educational programs during the Passover holiday is carried out by the local authorities and under their responsibility, within the framework of informal education and in accordance with the guidelines and exceptions of the Home Front Command” and is “subject to the decision of the local authorities alone,” says a spokesperson for the Education Ministry.
According to the ministry, “there is no intention to hold activities in places where there is concern or where the authority chooses not to open” and the minister’s directive allowing the running of such programs “is not an obligation, but an option given to authorities that are interested in it.” The ministry adds that local authorities must proactively apply to open such programs during wartime.
This morning, Kisch announced that he was canceling Passover camps across central Israel after a cluster bomb fired by Iran hit an empty daycare in Rishon Lezion.
The daycare, which was closed for the weekend, was one of several sites hit by cluster munitions in Rishon Lezion, without any injuries reported.
The decision came at the request of the “Forum of 16,” which comprises 16 mayors and two regional council heads from central Israel, which already recommended canceling the Passover camps before the incident in Rishon Lezion.

Britain will not be using its bases in Cyprus for any offensive action in the Iran crisis, the Cypriot government spokesperson says, citing a phone call between British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides.
“The British Prime Minister reiterated … that the security of the Republic of Cyprus is fundamental to the United Kingdom and, to that end, a decision has been taken to enhance the means contributing to the preventive measures already in place,” the spokesperson says in a written statement.
“Finally, the prime minister reiterated that the British bases in Cyprus will not be used for any offensive military operations.”
An Iranian-type Shahed drone caused slight damage when it hit facilities at Britain’s Akrotiri airbase in southern Cyprus on March 2, with two others later intercepted. There have been no further known security incidents.
Britain retained sovereignty over two bases on the island when it granted its colony independence in 1960.

The IDF announces that its 162nd Division has completed preparations ahead of deployment in southern Lebanon.
The military says the armored division is ready to “receive orders in accordance with the situational assessment.”
If the 162nd is deployed, it would bring the total number of IDF divisions operating in southern Lebanon to five.
Currently, the 146th division is deployed to the western sector of southern Lebanon; the 91st and 36th are operating in the eastern sector; and the 210th is stationed in the Mount Dov area.
The IDF has been preparing to deploy more forces in southern Lebanon and further expand its buffer zone to push away the threat of Hezbollah from the border.

Iran’s Simorgh space launch vehicle could offer greater range “at the likely cost of terminal accuracy,” says Justin Bronk, a senior research fellow at the Royal United Services Institute, a defense think-tank.
“Ballistic missiles are space rockets. They launch, they go really high up and they come down really fast,” says Steve Prest, a retired Royal Navy commodore. “If you’ve got a space program, you’ve got a ballistic missile program.”
Prest says the launches were likely a message of defiance, to say “look what we can do,” in response to Trump’s claims that Iran’s military has been obliterated.
Egypt’s president Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stress that the Iranian escalation against Gulf states endangers the safety and stability of the region.
The state-run Saudi Press Agency reports that Sissi reiterates his country’s rejection of the Iranian attacks on the Gulf states, adding that the Egyptian president expresses solidarity with the kingdom against threats.
Also, Arab League chief Ahmed Aboul Gheit welcomes the visits of Sissi and his Jordanian counterpart King Abdullah II to multiple Gulf states over the past few days, saying that these visits “reflect full Arab solidarity.”
US President Donald Trump’s fellow Republicans appear unlikely to directly challenge him, even as the conflict drags on. House Speaker Mike Johnson has said the military operation will be over quickly.
“I do think the original mission is virtually accomplished now,” Johnson tells the AP and others at the Capitol this week. “We were trying to take out the ballistic missiles, and their means of production, and neuter the navy, and those objectives have been met.”

There have been a number of cases where ballistic missiles have been partially intercepted by Israeli air defenses. In some of those incidents, Israeli air defense interceptors have hit the missiles but failed to destroy the warhead, which ultimately crashed down and exploded.

US President Donald Trump took the United States to war without a vote of support from Congress, but lawmakers are increasingly questioning when, how and at what cost the war with Iran will come to an end.
“The real question is: What ultimately are we trying to accomplish?” Senator Thom Tillis, a Republican from North Carolina, tells The Associated Press. “I generally support anything that takes out the mullahs,” he says. “But at the end of the day, there has to be a kind of strategic articulation of the strategy, what our objectives are.”
The US Central Intelligence Agency, Israel’s Mossad and other intelligence bodies are working to detect signs of Mojtaba Khamenei as he remains unseen since being declared the Islamic Republic of Iran’s new supreme leader following the assassination of his father, according to the Axios news site.
The report says spy agencies were on the lookout for Khamenei to release a video statement for Nowruz as his father traditionally did, though only a written statement was ultimately issued.
“We have no evidence that he is really the one giving orders,” a senior Israeli official is quoted as saying, while a US official describes the situation as “beyond weird.”
“We don’t think the Iranians would have gone through all this trouble to choose a dead guy as the supreme leader, but at the same time, we have no proof that he is taking the helm,” the US official adds.
A US official also tells Axios that the CIA is working to verify whether photos of Khamenei that were released alongside his Nowruz note are recent and notes that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian put out a video statement.
“We would have expected to see Mojtaba too in some form. He didn’t take advantage of the opportunity and tradition,” the official says. “It’s a big red flag.”
The United Arab Emirates has ordered the closure of an Iranian state-linked hospital in Dubai, three employees at the facility tell AFP, as ties between the two neighbors deteriorate amid Tehran’s aerial campaign against Gulf states.
Since the United States and Israel began striking Iran on February 28, Tehran has launched waves of missiles and drones at Gulf states, with more than 2,000 attacks on the UAE alone.
The strikes have strained ties between the countries, prompting Abu Dhabi to recall its ambassador to Iran and close its diplomatic mission.
Iran-linked entities, including schools, have been shut despite longstanding economic and community links.
“The government asked all of us to leave,” an employee at the hospital tells AFP, requesting anonymity to discuss sensitive matters.
“The hospital management told us it was because of Iran’s attacks on the UAE,” he adds.
The Iranian hospital, which employs more than 700 people, is run by the Iranian Red Crescent Society. It is one of the oldest healthcare facilities in the UAE.
A UAE official tells AFP “certain institutions directly linked to the Iranian regime and IRGC will be closed under targeted measures” after being found to violate UAE laws.
“These measures are administrative in nature and will be implemented in an orderly manner to ensure continuity of essential services,” they add.
More than 20 countries say they would contribute to efforts to ensure safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz, condemning Iran’s closure of the vital waterway.
“We condemn in the strongest terms recent attacks by Iran on unarmed commercial vessels in the Gulf, attacks on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas installations, and the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian forces,” says the 22 countries, mostly European but also including the UAE and Bahrain.
“We express our readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait. We welcome the commitment of nations who are engaging in preparatory planning,” they say in a joint statement.
“We call for an immediate comprehensive moratorium on attacks on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas installations,” the countries add.
The Jordanian army says that 240 missiles and drones have targeted the kingdom since the Middle East war began last month, most of which were intercepted.
“The total number of missiles and drones fired towards the kingdom since the start of the war has reached 240,” the army says in a statement.
“The Royal Air Force successfully intercepted and destroyed 222 missiles and drones, while 18 missiles and drones were not intercepted by the air defences,” it adds.
The military’s media office, meanwhile, says 36 missiles and drones have targeted the kingdom over the past week.
“Fourteen missiles and 21 drones were intercepted and destroyed, while defences were unable to thwart one attack,” it adds.
Since the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28, the Islamic Republic has struck countries across the region, including Jordan.
Iran has targeted US interests in the region, but attacks have also hit civilian infrastructure.
Jordan has recorded no deaths since the start of the war, with health authorities previously reporting 29 injured, all of whom have since been discharged from the hospital.
Several blasts are heard in Bahrain’s capital of Manama, according to an AFP journalist, as Iran presses its aerial campaign against Gulf states.
Two missiles were seen being intercepted in the sky, and a number of explosions rocked the city after warning sirens sounded. Tehran has targeted Bahrain and other neighboring countries in retaliatory strikes following US-Israeli attacks on Iran beginning on February 28.

“This is a blatant violation of international law,” the ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova says in a statement.
Iran has informed the International Atomic Energy Agency that the Natanz nuclear enrichment site was attacked, the agency said in a post on X.

Chief of the US Central Command, Adm. Brad Cooper, says the American military remains “zeroed in on dismantling Iran’s decades-old threat to the free flow of commerce throughout the Strait of Hormuz.”
“For example, earlier this week, we dropped multiple 5,000-pound bombs on an underground facility located along Iran’s coastline. The Iranian regime used the hardened underground facility to discreetly store anti-ship cruise missiles, mobile missile launchers, and other equipment that presented a dangerous risk to international shipping,” he says in a video update.
“We not only took out the facility but also destroyed intelligence support sites and missile radar relays that were used to monitor ship movements,” Cooper says.
“Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in and around the Strait of Hormuz is degraded as a result, and we will not stop pursuing these targets,” he adds.

“Their navy is not sailing, their tactical fighters are not flying, and they’ve lost the ability to launch missiles and drones at the high rates seen at the beginning of the conflict,” he says, adding, “our progress is obvious.”
According to Cooper, American forces “remain on plan to eliminate Iran’s ability to project meaningful power outside its borders.”
Cooper also says that “we have built the most extensive air defense umbrella in the world over the Middle East right now.”

Iran was “unsuccessful” in targeting the joint UK-US Indian Ocean military base at Diego Garcia, a UK official source confirms to AFP, after the Wall Street Journal reported Tehran fired two ballistic missiles at it.
The source said the “unsuccessful targeting of Diego Garcia” took place before the UK government announced yesterday that it would allow the United States to use some of its bases to target Iranian sites being used to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

A Patriot air defense system was involved in the interception of an Iranian drone over a residential area of Bahrain on March 9, Bahrain’s government tells Reuters, describing an incident that led to civilian injuries.
The interception prevented a drone strike and saved lives, the spokesperson says. The US military has previously said an Iranian drone had struck a residential neighborhood on March 9, injuring civilians.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi says in a post on X that he has spoken with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian.

LONDON — An Iranian man and a Romanian woman have been charged after trying to enter the naval base in Scotland that is home to Britain’s nuclear-armed submarines, police say.
Police Scotland says the 34-year-old man and 31-year-old woman will appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday.
As is customary in Scotland, police do not release the suspects’ names or the charges they face before their court hearing.
The pair were detained on Thursday after attempting to enter HM Naval Base Clyde, about 40 miles northwest of Glasgow.
The base, also known as Faslane, is home to the core of the UK’s submarine fleet, including the vessels that carry nuclear weapons.
Britain has been a nuclear power since the 1950s. Since the 1990s, its nuclear deterrent has consisted of four Royal Navy submarines armed with Trident missiles.

The UN atomic watchdog says it is looking into a report by Iran that the Natanz nuclear site was attacked in the war with the United States and Israel.
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) head Rafael Grossi repeats a “call for military restraint to avoid any risk of a nuclear accident,” the agency posts on X.
“The IAEA has been informed by Iran that the Natanz nuclear site was attacked today. No increase in off-site radiation levels reported,” it adds.
Today’s strike on Iran’s Natanz enrichment facility was carried out by the United States, the Kan public broadcaster reports, citing unspecified sources.
According to the report, the US used “bunker buster” bombs to target the site.
The US dropped more than a dozen GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs on the Fordo and Natanz underground nuclear facilities in June 2025, during Israel’s 12-day war with Iran.
The Kan report follows earlier reporting from Iranian media alleging that Natanz was targeted in a joint US-Israel strike.
Defense Minister Israel Katz says strikes against Iran this week will intensify.
“This week, the intensity of the strikes that the IDF and the US military will carry out against the Iranian terror regime and the infrastructure it relies on will significantly escalate,” he says during an assessment with military officials.
Katz says that Israel is “determined to continue leading the offensive against the Iranian terror regime, to decapitate its commanders and thwart its strategic capabilities, until every security threat to the State of Israel and to US interests in the region is removed.”

Donald Trump’s Board of Peace has presented Hamas with a written proposal on how it could lay down its weapons, two sources say, a step the Palestinian militants have thus far refused to take as the US president pushes on with his plan for Gaza’s future.
The proposal, first reported by NPR, was submitted to Hamas during meetings in Cairo over the past week, one of the sources says. The talks were attended by Nickolay Mladenov and Aryeh Lightstone, the two sources familiar with the matter said.
Mladenov is the Trump-appointed Board of Peace envoy to Gaza. Lightstone is a US aide to Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff.
Trump’s Gaza plan, to which Israel and Hamas agreed in October, sees Israeli troops withdrawing from Gaza and reconstruction starting as Hamas lays down its weapons.

Iran’s military warns the United Arab Emirates against allowing attacks from its territory on two disputed islands in the Gulf, near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
“We warn the United Arab Emirates that if any further aggression originates from its territory against the Iranian islands of Abu Musa and Greater Tunb in the Persian Gulf, Iran’s powerful armed forces will subject Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE to heavy strikes,” the military’s operational command Khatam Al-Anbiya says in a statement carried by Tasnim news agency.
Abu Musa and the Greater Tunb islands, which are controlled by Iran but claimed by the UAE, have long been a source of dispute between the two countries.
The islands are located in the Gulf near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, through which normally about a fifth of the world’s oil passes.
But marine traffic has been disrupted by the regional war, which began with US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28 and has since spread across the Middle East.

Russia floated a proposal to the United States offering to scale back intelligence cooperation with Iran — including withholding information on US military positions in the Middle East — in exchange for Washington cutting off intelligence support to Ukraine, Politico reports, citing two sources familiar with US-Russia negotiations.
