Isaac Herzog says he is unfazed by being questioned under caution earlier today over claims that he accepted illicit funding for his 2013 campaign to lead the Labor Party.
“It’s no secret that over the past few weeks I have said again and again that I will go anytime and anywhere and present my version and this is what I did this morning, and if needed, I will go and help with anything they need. So that this episode is behind us. I presented myself this morning without delay, I trust the law enforcement officials and I thank them for their respect and fairness,” the opposition leader tells unionists at a pre-Passover toast.
“Believe me, I am calm, and you should also be calm and if there is anyone in the party who is not calm — then they should calm down,” he says. “The role of a leader is to deal with such phenomena, overcome them, carry on, lead and win.”
Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
