Israel’s military liaison to the Palestinians slams European Union member states for not helping to recover the bodies of two IDF soldiers being held by the Gaza-based terror group Hamas.
“I am astonished at your failure to resolve the humanitarian issue of the IDF’s fallen soldiers in the Gaza Strip,” Maj. Gen. Yoav Mordechai tells the group of EU ambassadors to Israel during a briefing.
“I sit in front of all those present in this distinguished forum and am amazed that for years no one in the European Union has spoken about or addressed this Israeli humanitarian issue,” he says.
“While we are working to help the Palestinian population on humanitarian issues, it is only natural that we expect the international community to add pressure to address these Israeli humanitarian issues,” Mordechai adds.
Hamas is holding the bodies of Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin, who were killed in Gaza during the 2014 war between Israel and the terror group.
