Israel arrests Iranian reporter on terror suspicions

A journalist for an Iranian news outlet has been arrested in Israel on terror suspicions, police confirm to The Times of Israel.

Bassem Safadi is suspected of disseminating information promoting terror, which falls under an law forbidding incitement to violence of terror, according to a police statement.

Iranian outlet al-Alam said that Safadi, who reports for the outlet, was arrested at his Majdal Shams home in the Golan Heights this morning and has not been heard from since. They said his laptop and camera were also taken, and linked the arrest to a recent story claiming Israel was stealing oil in the Golan.

According to Ynet news, at an arraignment hearing Safadi was ordered to remain in custody at least until Sunday.
