Netanyahu calls Israel a ‘superpower’ at groundbreaking for Tel Aviv subway

Israel “is stronger than ever,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says at a groundbreaking ceremony for the subway system in the Tel Aviv metro area.
“Israel is a superpower,” he says. “Why is that important?”
“Pacts are made with the strong. Peace is made with the strong,” Netanyahu says.
He notes the massive natural gas deal with Egypt that he announced last night, as well as praise for the performance of Israel’s economy.
Netanyahu’s comments come ahead of his trip to the US at the end of the month to meet President Donald Trump. They are expected to discuss the future of the Gaza ceasefire and potential normalization agreements with Arab states.
