Palestinian FM: We can’t give Netanyahu time to counter UN moves
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleAfter a UN Security Council vote on the settlements is delayed, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki says the PA must not give Netanyahu time to foil its planned moves against Israel.
The request to postpone the vote came from Egypt, which penned the resolution, reportedly at Israel’s behest. Before the delay was announced, Netanyahu also appealed to the US to use its veto should the resolution pass as expected.
“The element of surprise is vital,” Maliki tells Palestinian television, according to Channel 10. “We cannot give Netanyahu time to call nations and ask them to use their veto.”
