With solidarity protests set to kick off in the Arab-Israeli town of Nazareth, police are reportedly working to prevent buses from reaching the northern town in hopes of heading off any potential violence.
Arab Israeli protests in Lod and Jaffa the past two nights have turned violent, with rocks being thrown at police.
Raid Salah, head of the Islamic Movement’s Northern Branch and a major driving force behind the demonstrations, is urging all Muslims to come to Al-Aqsa for prayers on Friday. “Al-Aqsa’s sovereignty supersedes that of Netanyahu, and of Israel, and of Israeli intelligence and of the Israeli military,” he says.
Netanyahu “has no right” to issue any orders banning Muslims from Al-Aqsa compound, he adds.
