Steinitz, oil companies agree on change to controversial clause
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleEnergy Minister Yuval Steinitz and the two companies tasked with drilling for Israel’s natural gas reach an agreement over a controversial clause in the agreement on developing the offshore gas fields.
The so-called “stability clause,” which was struck down by the High Court, prevented the state from making any substantial changes to the framework deal for 10-15 years. But the new clause grants future governments the discretion to adjust the agreement, if necessary, in light of any policy changes on the natural gas fields.
The new clause proposal will be submitted to the government in the coming days, Army Radio says.
