Tycoon jailed for insider trading requests clemency from Rivlin

Nochi Dankner, a businessman serving a three-year prison sentence for insider trading has reportedly asked President Reuven Rivlin to shorten his sentence citing his ill health.

In the request, Dankner’s lawyers say their client “accepts the line of the law, regrets his actions and accepts responsibility for them,” according to a Channel 13 news report.

Rivlin’s office said the the president would consider the request together with Justice Department.

Dankner was jailed in October carrying out millions of dollars’ worth of fraudulent transactions in an attempt to influence the share price of the troubled IDB Holding Corp., where he served as controlling shareholder.
