Man and teenage boy killed in drive-by shooting

Mukhtar Muhammad Watad, 23, and Ahmad Hamad Watad, 17, shot to death in apparent underworld assassination

A man in his 20s and a teenage boy were killed in a drive-by shooting in the village of Jatt, located in the Israeli Triangle, in what police suspect to be a criminally motivated assassination.

Mukhtar Muhammad Watad, 23, and Ahmad Hamad Watad, 17, were pronounced dead by a medical team that arrived at the scene of the shooting.

Police began searching the area for the perpetrators of the attack, Ynet reported, and officers will remain stationed in the village in order to prevent possible riots.

Following the shooting, Jatt Mayor Khaled Gera declared a general strike in the village. Gera urged Arab community leaders to take part in the strike as well.

Mukhtar Muhammad Watad’s father and uncle were killed earlier this year in a shooting in an events hall in the village.

Over the past four months, four people have been shot to death in Jatt, Channel 2 reported.
