A man arrested on suspicion of attacking a Palestinian worker near Jerusalem was ordered to remain in prison at least until Wednesday by a Jerusalem court Monday.
The suspect, a resident of the central region of the country in his 20s, was arrested Sunday and accused of assaulting the West Bank resident near the Even Sapir agricultural community on the outskirts of Jerusalem on September 16.
The Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court agreed to keep the suspect in custody for at least two more days while the investigation continues.
According to police, the Palestinian victim had finished his work for the day and was leaving the community when he was spotted by the Jewish suspect and some companions, who attacked him before escaping in a vehicle.
Police said an investigation was still ongoing.
No motive has been ascribed to the attack.

In a separate case, the Jerusalem District Court on Monday accepted an appeal by police against the release to house arrest of two suspects accused of attacking an East Jerusalem man earlier this month.
The decision to release the two, including the prime suspect, was made on Sunday.
The two suspects were among five people arrested last week on suspicion of carrying out the attack on a resident from the predominantly Arab neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber in Jerusalem reported to police that he was set upon during a trip to the south of the city.
According to the victim, a man, backed up by several others, approached and attacked him.
The complainant did not require medical treatment after the assault and the gang fled the scene.
The court ordered the two men back into detention until Tuesday, giving police time to file formal charges and a request to hold the men until the end of proceedings.
In accepting the police request to keep the main suspect in custody the court noted that he was already under house arrest in a criminal case when he committed the assault.
The other three suspects in the case have been given conditional releases.
