Two mortars were fired from Gaza at the Eshkol Regional Council area Thursday evening.
Both landed in open areas and there were no reports of injuries or damage.
After several months of quiet since the end of Operation Pillar of Defense, the last few weeks have seen a return of rocket fire from Gaza into Israeli territory, perpetrated by Islamist groups not associated with Gaza’s Hamas rulers.
On Sunday, a rocket was shot at the Eshkol region after Israel bombed targets in the Strip in response to rocket fire the night before.
On Tuesday, an Israeli airstrike killed a Salafist terror leader in Gaza who was reportedly behind an April 17 rocket attack on Eilat from the Sinai.
