The Israeli Navy fired warning shots towards a Palestinian fishing boat off the Gaza coast Saturday morning, after it deviated from permitted fishing zones, the army said.

A spokesperson for the Israeli military said the boat turned back after the warning salvo. There were no reports of casualties.

Israel typically allows Gaza’s fishermen to sail across six nautical miles and sometimes extends the zone to nine.

Israel and Egypt maintain a security blockade on the Gaza Strip in order to prevent Hamas — which has fired thousands of rockets into Israel, dug attack tunnels into Israel and waged three wars against it — from importing more weaponry.

AP contributed to this report.
