Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian protester and wounded another 41 people during clashes along the Gaza Strip border fence Friday, the Palestinian health ministry in the Hamas-run territory said.

Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra told AFP that 20-year-old Mahmud al-Agha was killed, while 31 of the wounded were hit by live fire and the other 10 by rubber bullets. The ministry did not specify where the incident had taken place.

Dozens of Palestinians were protesting in the Gaza Strip on Friday, gathering at the Gazan side of the Erez Crossing into Israel, in the northern Strip. Troops at the crossing deployed riot dispersal measures, the Ynet news website said.

The reports come on another day of violence, with two Palestinians shot — and one killed — as they tried to ram their vehicles into Israeli troops in two separate would-be attacks in the West Bank.

On Friday afternoon, a Palestinian was shot dead as he tried to drive his car into Israeli security forces at the entrance to the settlement of Ofra in the northern West Bank. The incident came some two hours after a Palestinian was shot in the leg and wounded as he tried to carry out a similar attack at the Qalandiya checkpoint near Ramallah. No Israelis were wounded in either attempt.

Two IDF soldiers were also lightly hurt Friday when rioting Palestinians hurled stones at them near the West Bank village of Anata, close to Jerusalem, Ynet reported.
