A young Palestinian man attempted to stab an Israeli soldier near the Palestinian city of Qalqilya in the West Bank Friday afternoon, security forces said.
The incident occurred when a routine IDF patrol stopped a suspicious vehicle at Azun junction, the army said. As the soldiers were checking the vehicle’s occupants, one of them noticed an object in a passenger’s pocket and instructed him to present it.
The man then pulled out the object, a knife, and tried to stab at the soldier, according to the IDF.
The troops subdued the suspect, in his twenties, and took him for questioning. No soldiers were wounded in the incident.
