Rob Reiner says those who support Trump aiding racism
American director says Republican candidate has given new voice to racist, hateful feelings in America
TORONTO — US filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner says those who support Donald Trump for president are aiding and abetting racism.
Reiner made the remarks Friday when asked about the timing of his Woody Harrelson-led Lyndon B. Johnson film “LBJ,” which made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Reiner said the emergence of Trump has led to a resurfacing of racist, hateful feelings in America. He said Trump was giving voice to it and was encouraging it and that’s frightening.
The Jewish Reiner is a director well known for his work on “The Princess Bride,” “Stand By Me” and “When Harry Met Sally.” He has also acted in numerous films.
