Soldiers indicted for filming female comrades in shower

Twelve Israel Defense Forces soldiers are currently being investigated after allegedly filming and/or disseminating videos of two female soldiers showering on base.

Three of the soldiers being investigated have been indicted on charges of sexual harassment and invasion of privacy, according to Channel 2.

The names and identities of the individuals involved were not published, but the two women and the 9 others being investigated reportedly belong to the same battalion.

The scandal was exposed after it was discovered that videos of the two women began circulating among soldiers on their base.

The indictments were filed on the basis of a January 2014 amendment to a law against sexual harassment, which forbids publishing a film, photograph or recording of a soldier that depicts him or her in a sexual way.

The amendment came after a large number of photographs of nude and scantily clad IDF personnel were widely circulated among soldiers and surfaced in the international media.

Two of the soldiers were charged after they were interrogated on suspicion of watching the videos together and showing them to their cohorts.

Military authorities did not find enough evidence to bring charges against six of the soldiers under investigation.

Last month, a male recruit was indicted after he filmed his male comrade showering. He was charged with sexual harassment and committing an indecent act.
