IDF Military Police arrested two soldiers from the Givati brigade suspected of hazing, Israel Radio reported Tuesday afternoon.

The arrests follow Monday’s extension of the remand of three other soldiers who are also suspected of abusing fellow soldiers.

The alleged hazing included the beating of more junior soldiers with wooden and rubber clubs and stapling military insignia to their flesh.

According to the report, Dana Nof, a defense attorney for one of the soldiers, told the Southern Command Military Court that the defendants were being held responsible for acts that have been carried out in their unit for generations, adding that the soldiers in question were simply continuing tradition.
