US Muslim group slams IS in billboard campaign
Chicago poster reading ‘Hey ISIS, You suck!!!’ is initiative of American group Sound Vision, using hashtag ‘Actual Muslims’
A billboard campaign in Chicago denouncing the Islamic State terror group has become a hit with social media users worldwide.
The campaign was launched by an American non-profit organization representing American Muslims.
Quoting the verse “Life is sacred,” from the Quran (5:32), the billboard sign reads “Hey ISIS, you suck!!! From: #ActualMuslims,” using another name for the terror group.
The campaign was initiated by Sound Vision, an organization whose website carries the subheading “Building bridges of understanding.”
According to the website the Middle East Eye, the sign became a hit on such websites as Reddit and Twitter, used by Muslims to send a message that the extremist group is not synonymous with mainstream Islam.
On Sound Vision’s website, the article proudly boasting media coverage of the billboard sign links to an article comparing the teaching of Muhammad with the practices of IS, showing in bullet points how the terror group deviates from the teachings of Islam.
Sound Vision refers to Islamic State on its website as “ISIS the Terrible Terror.”
