West Bank hit-and-run driver indicted for murder
Kafr Kassem man accused of running down security guard near Sha’arei Tikva settlement

An Israeli man was indicted for murder Thursday in the hit-and-run death of a security coordinator of a West Bank settlement earlier this month.
Arkan Badir, 25, of Kfar Kassem, was also charged with abandoning a crime scene after allegedly running over Lior Farhi outside Sha’arei Tikvah.
Badir was allegedly driving a van in the West Bank on September 9, picking up Palestinians who hoped to illegally work in Israel. After his actions were discovered by IDF personnel, he fled the scene and ran down Farhi, who had stood in the road with a drawn weapon in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
Farhi was pronounced dead en route to hospital treatment, and Badir fled the scene, only to be arrested later that same day. Three others were charged with obstruction of justice in the case, having allegedly told the police that Badir’s car was stolen at the time of the incident.
