12-year-old girl dies after night swim at Tel Aviv beach
Jerusalem resident and four family members overtaken by current after entering water at 1 a.m.
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleA 12-year-old girl died early Saturday morning at the Soroka Medical Center in Tel Aviv after her body was pulled from the sea near a local beach.
The girl, a Jerusalem resident, had gone swimming with four members of her family at approximately 1 AM at Dolphinarium Beach near Neve Tzedek. Strong currents began to sweep the group out to sea, but two of the family members were able to swim back to shore.

Maritime police rescued the other two family members and found the girl floating unconscious dozens of yards offshore. They pulled her from the water and Magen David Adom paramedics began resuscitation efforts.
The girl was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, with no heartbeat. Unsuccessful resuscitation efforts continued at Soroka, and doctors confirmed her death early Saturday morning.
