The IDF stands ready to confront any challenge facing it, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz said in a YouTube clip published on Friday.
Speaking in the wake of a rocket attack on the southern resort city of Eilat early on Thursday, Gantz reassured Israelis that the army is vigilant against all threats.
He reminded viewers of the threats that exist on Israel’s borders and abroad, but reassured Israeli citizens, as they gather around the seder table, that servicemen and women in the army, navy, and air force guard them from harm.
He also urged Israelis to enjoy the Passover vacation, and said they should feel safe to travel to Eilat without concern for further threats from Sinai. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned on Thursday that the Sinai was increasingly being exploited by terror groups.
Gantz wished soldiers in every branch of the IDF a happy holiday at a Passover toast. He especially thanked the army’s lone soldiers — many of whom are volunteers from abroad — for their wholehearted commitment and service to the Jewish state.
