WATCH: Larry David shines as Bernie Sanders

Veteran comedian Larry David surprised viewers of NBC’s popular sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live” this weekend by stepping onto the set as Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

The creator and star of the hit HBO series “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” who was previously a co-creator of “Seinfeld,” pumped out 10 minutes of Sanders’ characteristic passionate oratory alongside Kate McKinnon’s humdinger impression of Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.

The two were also joined in the sketch by guest star Alec Baldwin as former Virginia senator Jim Webb.

In an impersonation that effortlessly captured the Vermont senator’s cantankerous inflections, David bellowed, “I’m the only candidate up here who’s not a billionaire. I don’t have a super PAC. I don’t even have a backpack. I carry my stuff around loose in my arms like a professor between classes. I own one pair of underwear, that’s it.”

“Coming next November I will be… Hillary Clinton’s vice president!” he exclaimed.

Social media instantly responded with delight at the sketch, with some on Twitter even suggesting the impression could affect their vote in 2016.

Sanders has been the subject of “Saturday Night Live” spoofs in the past, including references to his Jewish background and, what some would call Jewish-guy-from-Brooklyn demeanor.

“As everyone in this room knows, I am a Jew, an old Jew,” actor Fred Armisen said while playing Sanders in a 2013 SNL sketch.
