An F-16 fighter jet and a Boeing 707 refueling plane were forced to make emergency landings at the Uvda air force base after a mid-air refueling attempt ran into trouble.

There were no injuries, but the planes suffered extensive damage. The air force is investigating the incident.

Initial reports indicate that the refueling hose knocked into the canopy of the F-16’s cockpit after the two planes failed to connect correctly, forcing the emergency.

The two planes were engaged in a drill in the south of the country.
