A 55-year-old grandmother from the northern city of Safed was arrested during an incident of domestic violence that involved her throwing a falafel-filled pita at her husband.
The unnamed woman told the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper Monday that a fight broke out between her and her husband last week after he returned home with the falafel dinner for two in hand.
The woman said that “ranting and raving” by her husband led her to call the police, but that she was arrested when her husband told the officers that she had thrown the pita at him.
After spending the night behind bars in Kiryat Shmona, the local magistrate’s court granted her conditional release. The woman was placed under a week-long restraining order that banned her from coming within 100 meters (109 yards) of her house and from contacting those involved in the incident.
Israel Police spokesperson Luba Samri told The Times of Israel Monday that the investigation into the case was ongoing.
