Israel’s Omri Casspi, a forward for the Sacramento Kings, suffered a hamstring injury on Friday which may see him bow out of games for the rest of the NBA season.

The severity of the injury obtained during a game against the Miami Heat is not yet known but, according to the Sacramento Bee, Casspi is not expected to return for the final six games of the season.

He is set to undergo an MRI on Saturday.

The injury comes after a glowing breakout season for the Israeli-born player who has been averaging career highs in points and rebounds.

In January, Casspi was absent for four games after taking time to recover from back soreness.

Casspi rose to stardom at Maccabi Tel Aviv, Israel’s most prominent club. He was drafted to the Kings in 2009.

He is the first Israeli athlete to achieve success playing in the NBA.
