Israel’s Wix unveils 2016 Super Bowl ad
Tel Aviv-based do-it-yourself website development firm recruits characters from ’Kung Fu Panda 3’ for clip
Wix.com, the Tel Aviv-based do-it-yourself website development company, on Wednesday released a commercial it will broadcast during the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 7.
The 30-second spot, which will air during the 3rd quarter of the CBS broadcast, features characters from DreamWorks Animation’s “Kung Fu Panda 3” wondering how to promote Mr. Ping’s Noodle Shop, and opting to start with a Wix website.
The commercial, part of Wix’s #StartStunning campaign, was developed in collaboration with DreamWorks.
The spot marks the second time Wix has invested in a Super Bowl ad.
Last year, it promoted the companys #ItsThatEasy campaign, which trumpeted Wix’s simple-to-use software for creating a personal or business website. In that clip, five NFL legends – Brett Favre, Terrell Owens, Emmitt Smith, Larry Allen and Franco Harris – were shown trying out new ventures outside of football, and finding some help in their new careers by creating a Wix personal website.
“For our second Super Bowl appearance we went for a direct message: the first step to a successful business is to create a stunning website. With Wix, regardless of size or advertising budget, everyone can tell their own story,” said Omer Shai, Wix.com’s CMO. “We wanted a spot that will resonate with the tens of millions of people who will see it. And how better than to give a nod to iconic Super Bowl commercials within our own ad.”
Wix.com is a leading cloud-based web development platform with over 78 million registered users worldwide. Wix’s headquarters are in Tel Aviv, with offices in San Francisco, New York, Miami, Vilnius and Dnepropetrovsk.
