Brothers suspected of carrying out an audacious heist in a jewelry store in the northern city of Haifa last month were caught after one of them slipped on the glass they had smashed, cutting himself and leaving drops of blood.

Moshe and Bar Amos are suspected of breaking into the high-end jewelry store in a Haifa mall in the early hours of the morning of October 19 while the shopping center was closed, and making off with jewelry and watches worth around NIS 285,000 (approximately $91,000).

The owner of the store said the entire robbery inside the store took just 50 seconds.

Security cameras showed one suspect smashing the glass cases holding the jewelry, while the other held a large bag the goods were collected in.

According to the indictment filed against the brothers, they and another suspect who remains on the run stole 53 gold bracelets, 30 pairs of gold earrings, four necklaces, two gold rings and 10 expensive watches.

“I arrived and saw everything was broken, destroyed,” owner Moshe Zrihan told Channel 13 news.

During the getaway, one of the burglars slipped on the broken glass outside the store where they had smashed their way in.

Police then used the drops of blood left on the floor to identify the suspect, apparently via his DNA.
